I Finally Did It!!
One of my new years resolution was to learn how to make home made wheat bread. My parents gave me an electric wheat grinder for Christmas and all of my mom's old cans of wheat. They date back as far as August 1988! After four tries my bread FINALLY turned out. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. I talked to anyone and everyone who had ever made bread. Then today I happened to glance at the expiration date on my oil. Yeah, it had expired a year ago! Obviously I don't do a lot of cooking. Using fresh oil made all the difference and my bread tasted so yummy, I was shocked!! One goal down one more to go. I am participating in a sprint triathlon February 21 in San Diego. My friends convinced me to train with them. I've been apprehensive to do it because of the swimming. I was not sure I could swim half a mile in the San Diego Bay, but I've been practicing and each time I get in the pool I'm a little better. My goal is to just cross the finish line. I've loved training up to this point. It's been so fun to have a goal to reach towards!!

Go Kira!!!
Way to go Kira! My Mother-in-Law is an amazing baker and makes the best rolls. It took me at least 5 tries to get them to not taste like hockey pucks!! Now I've got it down to a science and they are sooo good.
Good Luck in your race! You are super mom!
XOXOXO
Getting the bread thing down hasn't happened for me yet. I need to keep trying. Do you just love your new wheat grinder? Have fun with your race, that's awesome.
Congratulations on the wheat bread! I'd love to see your recipe. I borrowed my friend's bread machine before Thanksgiving and still haven't given it back. I'm just not sure I can make bread without it. :)
And that's awesome about your triathlon training. I've decided to run a marathon in March and it's so great to have a goal - and a friend to run with! Wish I could train with you.
You're amazing! We will have to switch bread recipes. I can't go a day without eating it, it is so addicting. Good luck with your training. You will do great!
Yeah Kira. I know it was frustrating, but you got it! I can't wait to taste a slice!
that sounds amazing.. I would love to do something like that, but I hate running; although there is something to be said about achieving a goal! way to go
WAHOO! You did it, I'm so proud of you! Ha ha so it wasn't the yeast - you were spot on the whole time! Oh I should start working on my signs for your triathlon! :)
Way to go... that is one of my resolutions too. You should totally do the breast cancer tri in Chandler 4/19. I am training for it now. I can get you the info if you want. You'll be all warmed up after your one in Cali. I need your bread recipe. I still need to get a bread down.
