We started Christmas Eve off with the highly anticipated cookie decorating party. The kids get together with all of their Hawkins cousins and decorate cookies for Santa.
Don't those cookies look yummy. I'm sure santa loved those cookies!!
Emery was Mary this year for the annual nativity. She was so good. She loved wearing her shiny costume and enjoyed holding baby Jesus. Emmet always a shepherd boy, fortunately he didn't do any crazy dances during the nativity this year. In the past he's been a brake dancing shepherd.
We spent Christmas Even night at my parents home. I didn't want to wake up at my home with just the three of us. It would have been too quiet. The kids loved Christmas morning. Emery loved it so much that she kept asking for more presents. She was quite unsatisfied with only opening her own presents that she helped everyone open theirs.
I think for the next few years, New Year's Eve will be a non holiday in my home. So nothing to report about New Years, except I'm excited for 2008. I'm hoping it will be a good year, full of fun times with my kids. I've resolved to no longer look back, but to look forward with anticipation of what may come our way! Happy New Year!!

Great post Kira, glad you had a good holiday. Here's to you having a great 2008!!!
I am constantly amazed at your strength. Thanks for your example. Lots and lots of love.
Happy New Year to you and the little ones! I wish you a lot of good times and happiness for 2008.
The Santa cookies looked yummie. When Santa comes to our house he only gets the precut dough cookies. (I know it's my fault, I am defenetly not a cook!)
I agree about New Year's Eve. It's highly overrated. I barely made it this year to ring in 2008.
That cookie tradition sounds like a lot of fun! I'm glad you guys had a good Christmas and were able to spend it with family. Oh, and New Year's is not exciting at my house either.
i haven't celebrated new year's since i was like 18 or something. christmas was weird for us this year--first year not going to california. we found ourselves driving around at 4:30 in the afternoon looking for an open mcdonalds. there were none. we went home and i made the girls mac and cheese. i know you'll have a great 2008, especially if you come to see me.
The cookies looked awesome!! I am sure Santa loved them. Here is to a wonderful 2008 and looking forward!
What a beautiful Mary! I really wish you had some video of a break dancing shepard...you could be a YouTube hit! Here's to an exciting and eventful 2008!
You made it! Way to go! Loved seeing your holiday pics. I could use some cookies made by Emery & Emmet. My Lucky Charms aren't cutting it this morning. Here's to 2008!
Congrats Kira! You continue to amaze me. I loved seeing your holiday pics and reading about your positive outlook on 2008. It's going to be a great year!
Great postive thinking Kira- way to go!
